General
Care of Your
DRIZA-BONE
Garment
- Your garment needs to be ample in size so undue
stress is not caused on the seams resulting in
possible water penetration.
- After purchasing your garment, please read the
washing/care instructions very carefully to help
prolong its life.
- If the garment is slightly soiled, use a damp cloth
to wipe it clean.
- If it's really dirty, sponge it down with cold water
and place on hangar and hose it off.
- If the garment is EXTREMELY dirty and you were to
dry clean or wash it with soap in warm water then the
water-proofing will be lost. As a result, now you have
a cotton duster which is not water resistant. So,
please DON'T DO the above.
- DO NOT wash with detergent or hot water.
- DO NOT dry clean, starch or iron.
- DO NOT hang on radiators, expose to naked flame or
use artificial heat to dry.
- DO NOT stitch through outer fabric. Should items
have to be stitched then apply Garment Dressing to
re-proof area.
- Under extreme conditions, condensation may form
inside the coat if the wearer is much warmer than the
outside temperature. The garment is not leaking. This
is the same as the condensation seen on glass windows.
- Should light or dry areas appear on the garment,
especially around the neck, shoulders, pockets or at
creases in the sleeves, then it may be necessary to
apply
DRIZA-BONE Garment Dressing to re-water

The
Driza-Bone History
|
|
The Driza-Bone
oilskin coat is part of Australia's history. Its origins can be
traced to the early windjammers, and to the we weather gear worn by the
sailors to protect themselves from the fierce weather of the Roaring
Forties. A Scot named Edward Le Roy discovered that ships' sails
could be transformed into excellent wet weather gear and the coats he make
proved so efficient they were soon adopted by the colony's squatters and
settlers.
There have been
certain improvements to the oiling process along the way, but the
essential style of the coat, and its famous durability, have make it the
legend of the bush.
If used as
directed each Driza-Bone garment is weatherproof, rot proof, and durable
with a reliability that has been proven over many years and mostly
under extreme conditions. The garments are treated against mildew and
inspected three times before leaving the factory. The secret formula
of oils not only keeps the garments weatherproof, but stops cracking and
prevents the garments from going hard and stiff. It also helps stop
them from deteriorating when stored during a hot summer. |
